In a partnership between Global Policy Insights (GPI) and The Ramphal Institute, a joint E-Series was launched on 22 May 2020. The launch E-Symposium featured a keynote address by The Rt Hon Patricia Scotland QC, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.

The 21st Century has been presented with unprecedented challenges, political shifts and global transformations, now exacerbated with the coronavirus pandemic at hand. As the pandemic spreads across politically, economically and socially distinct nations, all governments find themselves affected, albeit unequally. The Commonwealth is a body of diverse nations that has witnessed a multitude of global challenges and the realignment of the world.

System over many decades, soaring through, together. Through the E-Symposium, we delved into the exceptionalism of the Commonwealth in tackling the challenges at present and overcoming them through its experiential advantages. We look at the power of the modern Commonwealth, its unique influence and arrangements -- the 'networks of the Commonwealth'.

The E-Series and launch E-Symposium further mark a milestone in the 'The Commonwealth Project' at GPI, a unique project, dedicated to answering the key question: 'What is the role of the Commonwealth in the 21st Century?'.
